Where Our News Comes From

River Cruising News is a headline hub. We do not run a separate newsroom; we gather the latest river cruise stories in one easy place and send you to the full article.

Official River Cruise Directory editors

Every headline on this site comes from the Official River Cruise Directory newsroom, part of the same Smart Traveler network. Its editors cover new ships, itineraries, policy changes and industry events from the cruise lines and trade bodies.

Industry sources

Those stories draw on cruise line announcements and industry organizations such as Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), as well as the wider travel trade press.

Our summaries

The one-line summaries on each card are short paraphrases of the story’s opening paragraph. For prices, dates and full details, always read the full story and confirm with an advisor.

How Often We Update

This site is updated regularly with the latest headlines from the directory’s newsroom. The current edition was updated October 25, 2026 and lists the 30 most recent stories. The newest 12 appear on the home page; all of them are in the news archive.

Our Standards

  • We link to the original story every time.
  • We do not add details that are not in the story.
  • We do not publish fares on this site; prices change constantly, and our advisors quote live fares.
  • Corrections: if a cruise line updates an announcement, the directory updates its story and our next refresh follows.

How to Use This Site

Think of River Cruising News as a front page. Scan the headlines on the home page for what is new this week, or use the topic pages to narrow things down: New Ships gathers stories about newbuilds, christenings and fleet changes, and Itineraries gathers new routes, seasons, themed departures and land extensions. A story can appear on both when it covers a new ship and its first routes.

When a headline catches your eye, open the full story for the details. If you want to know whether that ship or route fits your dates and budget, ask our cruise advisors at Mister Cruise. They can tell you which announcements are already bookable, which are still “coming soon”, and how a new option compares with established ships on the same river.

What we do not cover

This is a river cruise site. Ocean cruise news lives on the Official Cruise Directory, and general travel news on the Official Travel Directory. We also leave out cruises on rivers in Russia and Ukraine, which are not sold by the US-market river lines.
